New QB coach good choice
On Jan. 29, the Mirror wrote a story that Ricky Rahne is a good fit to be the quarterback coach at Penn State.
I agree Rahne is a fabulous choice due to his playing experience. Rahne was a starting quarterback at Harvard for three years and has knowledge that he can pass on to Christian Hackenberg.
Rahne will be able to relate to Hackenberg’s mistakes and to his accomplishments. Rahne also has a degree from the Harvard, which would make him an intelligent individual. The quarterback position has a lot to do with thinking and making great decisions, which Rahne will teach quite well.
Hackenberg is in great hands for years to come.

Glad Vanderlinden landed
Some random thoughts:
n I’m glad to hear former Penn State linebackers coach Ron Vanderlinden landed on his feet with a job with the Air Force Academy. Coach Ron is a classy gentleman, and I wish him the very best.
n The Penn State women’s basketball team lost crucial games to Purdue, South Dakota State and Iowa because of poor shooting in close. The Lady Lions have the tallest team in the Big Ten, but they lack focus inside.
n I think John Franco should have stayed at Tyrone. He knew about Altoona being into the WPIAL before he applied for the job. He jumped too fast and probably now regrets it.
