Rekindle PSU passion
Simply stated, the electricity needs to be put back into Beaver Stadium on game day. These non-conference games will be a good prelude to the Big Ten schedule.
Here’s how I believe we can all do our part to help:
General ticket holders: Show up, tailgate and don’t miss kickoff. Empty sections in a stadium look awful and are embarrassing.
Student ticket holders: See above. Also, if your Friday night prohibits you from doing the above, sell your tickets for face value to students who would love to have that chance, regardless of how they feel after a night out.
Dr. Bundy: Please don’t direct the band to play “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes. Your work with the Blue Band is enjoyable and appreciated, but that song has reached overkill level.
Football communications and branding: I hope “Dancing in the Moonlight” is deleted from the game-day playlist. When that came on last season during a timeout, while losing to Ohio State, everyone should have left the stadium. Less King Harvest and more AC/DC and Guns N’ Roses. Bill O’Brien would agree.
Everyone: Don’t forget where WE came from. Change is part of life, but our history doesn’t have to be completely erased. Remember being, “The Greatest Show in College Football,” with, “The Best Student Section in the Country?”
I had the privilege a few weeks ago of meeting and thanking the man behind the ideas that turned Beaver Stadium into what it once was. Let’s find that passion again and make Beaver Stadium the place we all know it can be.
