Guilfoyle gets 5 picked for all-state team

The Pennsylvania Football Writers released their all-state teams Tuesday for Class 1A, 3A and 5A, and nine players from the Mirror coverage area are on it, including several from Bishop Guilfoyle.

In the 1A field, the Marauders were represented by — on offense — Nick Leamer, a 6-foot-2, 286-pound senior lineman and Kolton McGhee, a 6-0, 183-pound junior kicker. On defense, the Marauders have Max Sankey, a 6-2, 211-pound senior lineman, Josh Yasulitis, a 6-0, 206-pound senior linebacker, and Mark Conrad, a 6-2, 170-pound senior defensive back. Northern Bedford was represented by Tristin Guyer, a 5-8, 175-pound senior defensive lineman.

The lone area representative on the 5A team was Hollidaysburg’s Vlad Hilling, a 5-11, 201-pound senior kicker.

In the 3A field, Huntingdon’s Ian Border, a 6-0, 210-pound senior running back made the team as did Central’s Jared Smith, a 6-0, 210-pound senior linebacker.

Greg Page of Homer-Center was voted the 1A coach of the year. His team lost in the state finals.
