Altoona, Hollidaysburg football schedules released

Both the Altoona Area and Hollidaysburg Area high school football teams will open the 2014 season with home games.

The WPIAL released its 2014 schedules on Monday, and Altoona will open the season at Mansion Park on Aug. 29 against Butler, and Hollidaysburg will open the same night at Tiger Stadium against Yough.

Altoona and Hollidaysburg will each have five home games and four road games on their regular-season schedules.

After hosting Butler, Altoona will host McKeesport, travel to Plum and Penn-Trafford, host Norwin and Latrobe, travel to Kiski and Hempfield, and close the season at home against Connellsville.

After hosting Yough, Hollidaysburg will travel to Franklin Regional, host Greensburg-Salem, travel to Belle Vernon and Gateway, host Knoch and Hampton, travel to Mars and finish the season at home against Indiana.

The Butler game is Altoona’s WPIAL cross-sectional game, and Hollidaysburg’s is Belle Vernon.
