Penn State Altoona will host the third annual Coaches vs. Cancer Men’s Basketball Tournament in its Adler Athletic Complex this Friday and Saturday.

This year’s tournament includes the men’s basketball teams from Penn State Altoona, Juniata College, Mount Aloysius College, and Waynesburg University, who will all open their 2013-2014 regular season schedules.

Juniata and Mount Aloysius tip off the tournament on Friday at 5:30 p.m., followed by a game between Penn State Altoona and Waynesburg at 7:30. On Saturday, the losing teams face off at 2 p.m., and the winners’ game is slated for a 4 p.m. start.

The tournament was originally created when the men’s basketball coaches for Penn State Altoona, Juniata, and Mount Aloysius came together to produce an event that benefitted cancer awareness and research while promoting the area’s Division III men’s basketball programs.

All proceeds from the tournament will go to the American Cancer Society and The Greg and Cathy Griffith Family Foundation.
