Notable: Homer-Center is the second seed. Bishop Guilfoyle is fifth. … The programs share the distinction of being among the original four District 6 champions. BG won Class AA and Homer-Center captured Class A in 1985. … Both teams also have won one district championship since. Guilfoyle won again in Class AA two years later. Homer-Center was the Class A winner in 1994. … Homer has only advanced beyond the first round of the playoffs once since then, in 2008. … The Marauders are making their first trip to the finals since they lost to Saltsburg in Class A in 1991. … BG lost to eventual champion Bellwood-Antis in last year’s semifinals. The Marauders also were eliminated in the semis in 2007, 2003, 2002, 2000 and 1997. … How Guilfoyle fares defending the run should go a long way in deciding this game. Lee and Newhouse both are 1,000-yard rushers, and the Wildcats average 6.1 yards per carry and 266.6 rushing yards per game. Guilfoyleonly allows 3.8 yards per carry. … Brandon Chadbourn is 31 yards from reaching the 1,000-yard rushing mark.
