B-A, PC girls part of playoff twinbill

Ten area high school basketball teams will begin round 2 of play in the PIAA state tournament this week, with seven games scheduled for Tuesday night and three more on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Mifflin County High School will host a twinbill beginning at 6 p.m. with Penn Cambria (6-1) taking on Delone Catholic (3-2) in a girls 3A game. Following at 7:30 p.m., the Bellwood-Antis girls (6-1) will play Mount Carmel (4-1) in a 2A game.

In another 2A girls game, Juniata Valley (6-2) plays West Middlesex (10-1) at Punxsutawney High school at 6 p.m. In a girls 3A game, Central Cambria (6-3) plays Shady Side Academy (7-2) at Greensburg-Salem High School at 6 p.m. The Everett girls (5-1) will play Bishop Canevin (7-3) at Hempfield High School at 6 p.m. in another 2A game. The two played each other last year in the postseason.

In boys 4A action, Huntingdon (6-1) will play Hickory (10-1) at 7:30 p.m. at DuBois High School. The Bishop Carroll boys (6-2) take on Monessen (7-4) in a 1A game at 7:30 p.m at Greensburg-Salem High School.

On Wednesday, the Bishop Guilfoyle boys (6-1) play Coudersport (9-2) in a 2A game at DuBois High School at 7:30 p.m. The Bishop Carroll girls (6-1) will play Lourdes Regional (4-1) in a 1A game at Bald Eagle Area High School at 7:30 p.m. Tussey Mountain’s girls (5-3) will compete against Vincentian Academy (7-4) in a 1A game at Central Cambria at 6 p.m.

In other games involving District 6 teams, the Johnstown boys (6-1) play Lower Dauphin (3-1) on Tuesday at Bald Eagle Area at 7:30 p.m in a 5A game. while also on Tuesday, the Penns Valley girls (6-2) play Beaver (7-6) at DuBois High School at 6 p.m. in a 3A game.

On Wednesday, the Richland boys (6-1) play Seton-LaSalle (7-3) in a 3A game at Hempfield at 7 p.m. Forest Hills has a double-header on Wednesday at Armstrong High School. The girls (6-1) play Villa Maria (10-1) in a 4A game at 6. The boys (6-3) play Deer Lakes (7-6) in a 3A game following at 7:30. In a girls 1A game, Saint Joseph’s (6-3) plays Sewickley Academy (7-6) at Central Cambria at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
