C-K’s Weiland hits 1,000-point mark

CLAYSBURG — Senior Elizabeth Weiland reached the 1,000-point mark for her career as Claysburg-Kimmel downed Glendale, 54-32, in an ICC North high school girls basketball game on Thursday.

Weiland needed 14 points and reached the milestone with a foul shot in the third quarter. She now has 1,007 points.

“It was very nice to see,” Claysburg-Kimmel coach Jessica Veverka said. “Elizabeth is a well-rounded player who’s overcome a lot this year, so it was nice to see her reach her 1,000-point goal.”

Weiland also had 10 rebounds. Emily Claar chipped in with 13 points and 10 rebounds for Claysburg, now 6-6.

Cierra O’Shell led Glendale with 11 points.

Junior Sydney Reed also made 8-of-12 from the field and finished with 18 points. Freshman Halee Smith added 14 points and seven assists.

Haley Prestash led West Branch with 11 points.
