NBC hires Free as boys coach

Tuesday night at Northern Bedford’s school board meeting, Jason Free was hired by a 9-0 vote to replace Barry Crawford as the new head varsity boys basketball coach.

Free has been a varsity assistant the past nine years and is a 1999 graduate of Central where he played for Reggie Nevins.

Crawford coached 15 years at Northern Bedford and compiled a record of 201-175. The Black Panthers are coming off a 19-6 season.

Lilly gets third straight no-hitter

LILLY – Adam Gould allowed no hits and struck out eight for Lilly, it’s third consecutive no-hitter, as it shut out Colver, 10-0, in four innings in Cambria Township Pony League action Tuesday.

Gould added two hits and an RBI, while Dan Terek added two RBIs for Lilly.

Eldorado Kiwanis defeats McMullen

Dominic Georgiana went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs for Eldorado Kiwanis is a 4-1 victory over McMullen Furniture in an Altoona Teener Minor League game at Seitz Field.
