The Lady Marauders were knocked out in the second round last season, ending a run of five years in a row they reached at least the third round. … The Lady Marauders have advanced in 14 of their previous 22 third-round games. This is the deepest Clarion has made it since 1992, when the Lady Bobcats lost to Lebanon Catholic in the PIAA Class A championship game. … Clarion was bounced from states in the second round last year as the District 9 runner-up. Three of the Lady Bobcats’ top four scorers on that team were underclassmen. Bates is the reigning Altoona Mirror player of the year, but her 18 points against Serra last game was a season-high. Guilfoyle has made 278 free throws this season. BG opponents have attempted 199. … The Lady Bobcats are on an 11-game winning streak. Clarion won the PIAA Class A volleyball championship in the fall.
