Athlete of the week achievement: Johnston rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns and caught five passes in Glendale’s win at Southern Huntingdon. He also had eight tackles on defense, including three sacks, and forced a fumble that was returned for a TD.
Season update: Johnston has rushed for 384 yards and five touchdowns. He also has 37 tackles with five sacks for the 4-2 Vikings.
Coach Spank Trexler’s quote: “Cory Johnston is just special person. Athletically, he can and would do whatever is asked of him. Physically, he is as tough as it gets. But it is his character, mental toughness and emotional maturity that sets him above. He is a natural leader as an athlete and person, and the heart and soul of our team. He has big things ahead wrestling-wise, but if he decides he wants to play football at the next level, then some program will be very fortunate.”
