Athlete of the week achievement: Akers rushed for 180 yards and three touchdowns, threw for 41 yards, picked off two passes and made the game-saving tackle in the final seconds to lift Everett over Meyersdale, 20-13, in the District 5 Class 2A semifinals

Season update: Akers has thrown for 1,376 yards and 16 touchdowns and has rushed for 1,198 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also has scored three other touchdowns for the 8-3 Warriors, who play in the District 5 2A final against Chestnut Ridge on Friday.
