Stroh opens coach’s eyes

Athlete of the week achievement: Stroh won the District 6 Class AAA championship this past weekend with a time of 19:27.7.

Season update: Stroh won two dual meets – at Gateway and at Kiski – and at three invitationals he finished first overall and two where he was Altoona’s top finisher. At the Slippery Rock Invitational, where 600 runners competed, he finished 12th overall.

Coach Lee Baranik’s quote: “He has had a very good season. I knew good things were going to happen for him after the Altoona Invitational. He had a great sophomore year. He had a real good track season [last year]. Everyone was very optimistic coming into his junior year, but he opened our eyes at the Altoona meet. He beat some very good competition that day. That was when we realized he was truly ready for this.”

How I got my start in cross country: My brother, Dalen Stroh who runs at Lock Haven, talked me into it after my eighth grade year.

Future goal: I want to run at the collegiate level.
