Simendinger work pays off

Athlete of the week achievement: Simendinger won the District 6 Class AA championship this past weekend in 19:27.7.

Season update: Simendinger finished first at two invitationals this year, at Forest Hills and at Ridgway. She took third at the Altoona Invitational and second at the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference meet. She took first 11 times during the dual-meet season. She set a new school record with a time of 18:39.

She is always smiling, always working. part of me wants to say is I challenged her I was going to beat her in a race. She trained like a maniac [this past season]. Last year she was very good. How I got my start in cross country: I did [the] Mountain Top [competition] with Lois Smith in eighth grade and that got me hooked.

Future goal: I want to attend college and major in business administration.
