Barton gets huge victory
Name: Matt Barton
Athlete of the week achievement: Barton captured the District 6 Class AAA championship at 285 pounds after a 4-0 decision over Bellefonte’s Garrett Poorman, a returning state placewinner and an opponent he had previously never beaten.
Season update: Barton is 25-3 as he heads to the regional tournament.
Coach Mike Moore’s quote: “He was fantastic this weekend. He probably wrestled Poorman 10 or more times in his career dating back to junior high and always came out on short end of the stick. He worked pretty hard the past couple of weeks and got the win he was looking for.”
