Athlete of the week achievement: Albright recorded a key 6-4 decision at 195 pounds in helping lift Ridge to the District 5 team championship win over Bedford. Earlier, he earned a 3-2 decision in a semifinal win over Berlin Brothersvalley and also had a fall in a regular-season win over Tussey Mountain.

Season update: Albright is 25-2 with 14 pins at 195 and 220 pounds.

Coach Greg Lazor’s quote: “Dan came to us as a freshman having never wrestled before. He was raw, but he has great strength and determination. He’s a hard-nosed kid. To see the improvement he’s made through the years has been great. He took some lickings as a sophomore but has gotten better and better, and this year he’s really turning it on.”

How I got my start in wrestling: “In ninth grade I had never wrestled before, and Coach Lazor was my math teacher and said I should go out for wrestling. I did and fell in love with it.”

Future goal: To place in the top three at states in wrestling.
