Big fourth propels Lady Lions to win

UNIVERSITY PARK — The Penn State women’s basketball team used a 30-14 showing in the fourth quarter Wednesday night to secure a 67-59 win over Northwestern in Big Ten collegiate action at the Jordan Center.

The Lady Lions, 15-12 overall and 6-8 in the conference, got 22 points from Teniya Page, including a 7-for-7 foul-line performance. Teammate Amari Carter added 17 points in a game that was tied at the break, 26-all.

Northwestern (9-18, 2-11 Big Ten) outscored the Lady Lions, 19-11, in the third quarter to take a 45-37 lead into the final frame. Pallas Kunaiji-Akpanah led the Lady Wildcas with 21 points while teammate Abbie Wolf added 11 poitns and Abi Scheid, 10 points.

Penn State, which survived 25 turnovers in the game, is off until Thursday, Feb. 22, when the team plays at Nebraska.
