PSU’s Leap soars to triple jump win

Brian Leap, a Bellwood-Antis graduate, won the men’s triple jump for the Penn State indoor track and field team at the Penn State National with a personal-best mark of 52 feet, 3.75 inches recently.

Leap also finished third in the long jump with a distance of 24-0.25 which was also a personal best.

Leap’s triple jump mark ranks him No. 6 among NCAA jumpers in the event.

Glendale graduate Tyler Jenny was named the Lycoming football team’s Most Valuable Player after posting career-best numbers this past season.

Jenny threw for 2,404 yards, 24 touchdowns and had a 155.9 passing efficiency rating.

Mark Curtis, a Philipsburg-Osceola graduate, was named as a player to watch on the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Preseason All-American team.

Curtis is a pitcher for Shippensburg University.

Altoona graduate Lauren Hippo scored a season-high 24 points and made her 98th career 3-pointer for the Edinboro women’s basketball team in an 86-73 victory over Seton Hill on Wednesday.

Evan Link, a Penn Cambria graduate, won a 14-3 major decision over Wheeling Jesuit’s Dustin Warner to help the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown wrestling team pick up a 28-6 win.
