Givens invited to NFL combine
Altoona Area High School product Kevin Givens and six other Penn State players have been invited to participate in the NFL combine that begins later this month in Indianapolis.
Nittany Lions joining Givens at the combine will be: quarterback Trace McSorley, running back Miles Sanders, offensive linemen Ryan Bates and Connor McGovern, defensive end Shareef Miller and cornerback Amani Oruwariye.
Givens, a defensive tackle, gave up his final year of college eligibility to declare for the draft. He finished the 2018 season with five sacks, 10 ¢ tackles for loss and 33 overall tackles (19 solo).
Givens was listed at 6-foot-1 and 285 pounds by Penn State, and his measurements at the combine will play a role in his draft stock.
Givens is known for his incredible strength, so he could help himself a good bit if he puts up big numbers in that regard.
If he has a strong showing, Givens could help ensure that he gets drafted. He’s been projected as a late-round pick or possible undrafted free agent.
Penn State’s highest-rated draft prospects are Oruwariye, Sanders, and the offensive linemen — Bates and McGovern.
