PSU football recruit

DENVER LIGHT

Position: Linebacker

Recruiting class (size): 2019 (17 players)

Hometown/School: Tyrone/Tyrone Area High School

Height/Weight: 6-2/215

Stars: 2 (247)

Other top offers: Fordham, Saint Francis

Notable: A four-year starting linebacker, he committed to Fordham in late July, but Monday he switched and will be a preferred walk-on at Penn State. He’s also Tyrone’s starting quarterback. Recruited by defensive coordinator Brent Pry, who has shown a lot of interest in Blair County in recent years.

Scouting report: It’s always interesting when a player gives up a scholarship offer at a smaller school to be a walk-on at a major program. When he committed to Fordham, Light told the Mirror, “It’s a top-notch school, and they’re giving me the opportunity to get free schooling and play football at a high level. I’m excited to be a Ram.”

Quotable: “It’s been a long recruiting process and I wanna thank everyone for the opportunities that have been given to me. I want to thank my family and friends for supporting me. I’ve been blessed with an opportunity of a lifetime. On Saturday night, I received a offer from Penn State. After having a long talk with my family, I will be committing as a PWO to Penn State University.” — from his Twitter
