PSU losing asstistant coach Gattis
Another one of Penn State’s top assistant coaches is leaving the program, as receivers coach Josh Gattis is departing to take a job on Nick Saban’s staff at Alabama.
Gattis came to PSU from Vanderbilt along with coach James Franklin and did excellent work helping develop receivers such as Chris Godwin, DaeSean Hamilton and Juwan Johnson. He also was an elite recruiter, earning the Big Ten recruiter of the year honor in 2015.
Gattis will serve as receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator at Alabama, according to reports.
Alabama lost offensive coordinator Brian Daboll to the Buffalo Bills following its national championship victory, and Saban promoted receivers coach Mike Locksley to that position, which opened up the receivers coach job for Gattis.
Penn State already had lost offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead to Mississippi State (head coach), and he took with him running backs coach/special teams coordinator Charles Huff. Franklin already filled those spots on the PSU staff, and now has another opening to fill with Gattis departing.
