UNIVERSITY PARK — The Penn State men’s basketball team will meet Iowa, Maryland, Nebraska, Northwestern and Ohio State for home and away games during the 2017-18 season, as announced by the Big Ten Conference on Monday.

The Nittany Lions will play a single contest with each of the remaining eight teams with home games against Michigan, Minnesota, Rutgers and Wisconsin. Penn State’s 18-game league schedule will include road trips to Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State and Purdue.

Dates, times and broadcast information for all Big Ten Conference games will be announced at a later date.

Coach Patrick Chambers and the Penn State men’s basketball will open their 2017-18 campaign on Friday, Nov. 10 against Campbell.

PSU women games set

UNIVERSITY PARK — The Big Ten Conference announced the home and road designations for the 2017-18 women’s basketball season, with Penn State hosting eight conference foes, including Minnesota, Ohio State and Rutgers in home-and-home meetings.

The Lady Lions will host Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan State and Northwestern, along with the Gophers, Buckeyes and Scarlet Knights during the 2017-18 campaign. On top of trips to Minneapolis, Columbus and Piscataway, the road slate includes games at Iowa, Michigan, Nebraska, Purdue and Wisconsin.

Dates, times and broadcast information for all Big Ten Conference games will be announced at a later date.

Penn State and head coach Coquese Washington will open the 2017-18 regular season on Friday, Nov. 10 vs. Sienna inside the Bryce Jordan Center and play host to Drexel on Sunday, Nov. 12.

Carr invited to Elite Nike

Los Angeles — Penn State men’s basketball rising sophomore guard Tony Carr was invited to participate in the 2017 Nike Basketball Academy Aug. 15-20 in Los Angeles. Carr joins the roster of the nation’s top 20 collegiate players for the annual skills development camp and will learn from and train alongside NBA superstars present and past.

Mount volleyball honored

CRESSON — The Mount Aloysius College women’s volleyball team was notified by the American Volleyball Coaches Association that the team has once again been recognized for academic excellence.

The Mountie volleyball squad has received the AVCA scholastic honor for four consecutive years. The Mountie volleyball team ended the year with a 3.49 team GPA.
