Shoop appears to be staying at PSU
Based on a tweet sent out late Wednesday night, it appears that defensive coordinator Bob Shoop will be staying put at Penn State after being considered a candidate for the same position at LSU.
While Shoop didn’t flat out say he’s sticking with PSU, his tweet seemed to leave little doubt about his intentions.
“#WEARE..So excited 2 b part of the Penn State Family. Lots of work 2 b done. Committed 2 building a Big 10 National Championship Program!” Shoop tweeted at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Shoop was considered one of several potential candidates for the coveted defensive coordinator post at LSU. The previous coach in that spot, John?Chavis, was paid $1.3 million per season, making him the third-highest paid assistant coach in the country.
Chavis left to become defensive coordinator at Texas A&M.
Shoop recently finished his first season at Penn State after coming on board with head coach James Franklin from their previous stop at Vanderbilt.
PSU’s defense rated as one of the nation’s best under Shoop.
