Senior Montminy breaks nose, earns scholarship

UNIVERSITY PARK – Penn State men’s basketball coach Patrick Chambers recently said senior walk-on Kevin Montminy earned a scholarship for the 2014-15 season.

Just a few minutes prior to telling the team, the Penns Valley Area product dove after a loose ball and a teammate’s leg connected with his face, breaking his nose.

Montminy has seen action in 40 career games over the last three seasons with 24 total points and 10 rebounds.

He scored a career-high five vs. Iowa Feb. 14, 2013, and has had multi-rebound games on two occasions.

With a 4.0 grade-point average in each of the last five semesters, Montminy is a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, Academic All-Big Ten honoree and the team’s Academic Award recipient. He is a part of the Schreyer Honors College and the Smeal College of Business’ MAAC program.
