Chambers to visit DelGrosso’s Park

TIPTON – The annual Penn State men’s basketball summer outing will be held at DelGrosso’s Amusement Park at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18.

Nittany Lion coach Patrick Chambers and selected members of the team will be on hand to meet and greet fans and field questions following a chicken dinner catered by DelGrosso’s.

Tickets, priced at $12, can be obtained at DelGrosso’s, Irwin Financial, from Carl DeCaspers or from the Penn State Hoops Club by mailing a check to 148 Benner Road, Bellefonte, Pa., 16823. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Lucas on another list

UNIVERSITY PARK – After a breakout season in 2013, Penn State junior cornerback Jordan Lucas was named to his second watch list of 2014, as the Jim Thorpe Award, which honors the nation’s top defensive back, announced its 39-player preseason honor roll.

Lucas is also among the preseason nominees for the Bednarik Award, which is bestowed upon the nation’s defensive player of the year.

Lions at FIL Worlds

UNIVERSITY PARK – The Penn State men’s lacrosse team has representatives taking part in the 2014 FIL World Championships, which started Thursday in Commerce City, Colo. The quadrennial event has three Nittany Lion players and two coaches as part of the 10-day lacrosse world championship.

Penn State has three representatives on the U.S. team in alumni Drew Adams and Greg Gurenlian with PSU head coach Jeff Tambroni serving as an assistant coach. Adams and Gurenlian are each participating in their first World Championship competition and were selected for the final 23-man roster on Monday, June 30.

Current Nittany Lion junior Matt Sexton was tabbed by the English National Team in May. Ihe Iroquois Nationals have Penn State assistant coach Chris Doctor on their coaching staff for the games this month.
