Lions spike Lewis to reach semis

CHICAGO – The fifth-seeded Penn State men’s volleyball team defeated Lewis, 27-25, 19-25, 25-23, 25-19, in the NCAA quarterfinals Tuesday night at Gentile Arena.

The Nittany Lions were led by Aaron Russell (20 kills, nine digs), Nick Goodell (18 kills) and Peter Russell (15 kills).

The Lions will play top-seeded host Loyola Chicago at 9 p.m. Thursday in the semifinals.

Fees honered by PSAC

JOHNSTOWN – Pitt-Johnstown senior John Fees, a Cambria Heights graduate, was named the PSAC West Co-Pitcher of the Week by the conference office after holding Gannon University to just three hits in a 9-0 victory on Saturday.

Fees fanned seven to help UPJ clinch a berth in this week’s PSAC Baseball Tournament in Butler.
