Steelers pick Badgers DE

PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Wisconsin edge rusher T.J. Watt with the 30th pick in Thursday’s NFL Draft.

Watt, the younger brother of Houston Texans J.J. Watt, was considered by some publications as one of the top seven edge rushers in this year’s draft.

At Wisconsin, the 6-foot-5, 245-pounder totaled 11.5 sacks during the 2016 season. The redshirt junior did not play his freshmen season because of a knee injury, but did start all 14 games last year after playing 13 games his sophomore year.

He finished with 71 tackles, including 4.5 for loss, in 2016.

The Steelers have a second-round pick and two third-round picks tonight when the draft continues on ESPN.
