PennCrest, SHAG! will meet for Deremer title
PennCrest Bank will play SHAG! for the Altoona Teener League Deremer Division title starting tonight, thanks to a win over Sheetz on Monday in a playoff game at Seitz Field.
Game time for the best-of-3 series is 7 p.m. and all games are at Seitz Field.
PennCrest won when Matt Moyer scored from third base on a wild pitch with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh.
Moyer and Jacob Siford each had two hits and an RBI for PennCrest, which led, 5-1, after three innings. Teammate Camden Cavalet had two RBIs to go with solo RBI efforts from Landon Meadows and Nick Peterson.
Sheetz, which tied the game at 6-6 with a run in the top of the seventh, got two hits and three RBIs from Alec Alwine to go with two hits and two RBIs from Jacob Hammel
Peterson worked two-plus innings in relief for the win.
Game 2 will be played Thursday night and if necessary, Game 3 is Friday night. PennCrest, which trailed in the Sheetz series, 1-0, beat SHAG! twice during the regular season.
