Martin Oil, Barton’s advance

Martin Oil rode a seven-run second inning to a 9-2 win over Sheetz Tuesday night at Vets Field to win its Kelley Federation quarterfinal series, 2-1.

Alex Schmoke drove in two runs and scored twice for Martin Oil, which will play Park Home tonight to start the best-of-three quarterfinals at 5:30. Owen Shaulis also scored two runs for Martin Oil.

Lane Sell had the lone RBI for Sheetz.

Barton’s went up three runs early and added a couple of runs later before holding off a late rally to beat Shirley’s Cookies in the deciding game three of the George B. Kelley Federation best-of-three quarterfinal series at Vets Field.

Bryce Helmer led the offense for Barton’s with three RBIs. Maxx Swineford also drove in a run. Simon Adams picked up the win.

Barton’s will face Tyrone Legion in the best-of-three semifinals series beginning tonight at 8 p.m. at Vets Field.

LILLY — Frank Montecalvo had five RBIs in Johnston Realty’s marathon win over Lilly Conrad Chiropractic-American Legion in a Greater Altoona City League-AAABA crossover game.

Cory Storm got the win in relief for Johnston (13-5), which scored twice in the top of the seventh after losing an early 9-0 lead. Storm also drove in four runs while Allen Mackey and Drew Weglarz had two RBIs each.

Lilly (15-3) had two RBIs each from Brock Porter, Luke McCoy and Brent Davison.

Shaw was 3-for-4 at the plate for Cumming Motors (11-7). Matt Parks scored once and drove in Cumming’s fifth run.
