PSU’s student section buys up lots of tickets

UNIVERSITY PARK — The Penn State Student Section was filled with more than 21,000 tickets sold this week, highlighted by the sold-out allotments of the junior (17 minutes), sophomore (15) and freshmen (14) classes.

The Penn State Student Section has consistently sold out for four decades, showing the passion and dedication of Penn State students year-in and year-out.

“Our students always impress me with their excitement when it comes to the student ticket sale,” Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin said. “Our student section continues to show they are the best in the country and makes Beaver Stadium the toughest place to play. We can’t wait to be back in front of our amazing students in August!”

Students looking forward to being part of what ESPN The Magazine called, “The Nation’s No. 1 Student Section,” will be a part of a home schedule that features a trio of non-conference games, including the 100th all-time meeting with Pittsburgh.

The Nittany Lions open the season against Idaho (Aug. 31) and face Buffalo (Sept. 7) and Pittsburgh (Sept. 14 — Penn State Stripe Out) to close out a three-game homestand to start the year.

In Big Ten play, Penn State welcomes Purdue (Oct. 5 — Homecoming), Michigan (Oct. 19 — Penn State White Out), Indiana (Nov. 16), Rutgers (Nov. 30) to Happy Valley.

“More than 21,000 Penn State students will once again unite in the South end zone of Beaver Stadium this fall,” Bryan Markiewicz, interim assistant AD, ticketing sales and service said. “The support we receive from our students is second to none.”

Student ticket away game information will also be released closer to the season.
