Blair County Oil gives Locker Room first loss

Blair County Oil pushed across four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat previously-unbeaten Locker Room, 9-7, at Vets Field in a Greater City League game Tuesday.

Left fielder Sean Steffy was 4-for-4 with a double and four RBIs for Blair County Oil, which pushed across four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to improve its season record to 6-9.

Mark Saxman had two hits and two RBIs for Blair County Oil, which also got two hits and an RBI from Mike Heist.

Center fielder Brett Weibley was 4-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and a home run for Locker Room (9-1). Matt Hershey had two hits, including a home run, and two RBIs for Locker Room, while Mark Saxman had two hits and two RBIs.

Cove rolls

PHILIPSBURG –Devon Boyles had three hits, including a triple, for Spring Cove in an 11-3 victory over Philipsburg in a Pa. Jr. American Legion game.

Tyler Oakes pitched six innings and picked up the win for Spring Cove, which improved to 9-1. Philipsburg slipped to 2-6.

Helsley wins it

Led by Nick Helsley’s game-winning, bases-loaded single, Gingrich Insurance rallied for four runs in the bottom of the last inning to post outlast Eldorado Kiwanis, 17-16 in an Altoona Teener Minor League game at Seitz Field.

Kolin Hite had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in three runs for Gingrich, which leads the Lowey Division with a 15-4 record. Matt Gearhart had two hits and four RBIs, and Alec Strawmier had two hits and three RBIs, while Sam Saylor scored four runs, for Gingrich.

Eldorado Kiwanis (13-4) accomplished 20 stolen bases, with Jace Hostler swiping four. Tysen LaRocco scored four runs for Kiwanis.
