Lions’ Hartman tosses shutout

Matt Hartman threw a complete-game, five-hit shutout to lead Altoona past Greater Latrobe, 5-0, in high school baseball action at Mansion Park on Thursday.

Hartman had nine strikeouts and no walks and also had three hits and scored twice for the Mountain Lions.

Ian Yon had a triple, a single and an RBI for Altoona (9-6), and Connor Mondock had two hits for Latrobe (8-10).

Max Swineford was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Dan Potopa and Sam Homan each had two RBIs for the Marauders. Austin Lewis went the distance for BG with three strikeouts and five hits allowed.

Karlheim had a hit and two RBIs for the Huskies, and Logan Gottshall and Carson Ertter each had three hits, with two of Gottshall’s being doubles.

Ashton Buck’s RBI double drove in Collin Reese with a Penn Cambria run in the first inning.
