Frederick fans 15 for Lady Pirates

WILLIAMSBURG — Elizabeth Frederick finished with 15 strikeouts through a complete game of work to help Williamsburg fend off a late rally by Northern Bedford, 5-3, Thursday afternoon in high school softball action.

Emily Smith drove in two runs and also scored once for the Lady Pirates, who were up 5-1 going into the seventh. Northern scored twice in a late rally attempt, thanks to two RBIs from Krysta Kennedy.

The Lady Pirates finished with 10 hits while Northern was held to three hits by Frederick.

PHILIPSBURG — Kylie Adams tossed one-hit ball in a six-inning victory over Punxsutawney in a game in which she struck out 14 and walked just one.

Offensively, Roselyn Weaver had two hits and four RBIs, including a home run. Adams, who finished with three hits and two RBIs, also homered. Teammate Kendra Carns added two RBIs.
