Three-run innings enough for B-A in victory
BELLWOOD — Bellwood-Antis scored three runs in the third and sixth innings to capture a 6-3 win over Central Monday afternoon in high school baseball action.
Winning pitcher Travis Luensmann struck out 10, pounded out two hits and knocked in two runs to lead the Blue Devils.
Alex Schmoke and Nick Plank collected two hits each as B-A improved to 8-5.
Paxton Kling was the lone Scarlet Dragon with multiple hits as he tallied two.
Juniata Valley 3
TYRONE — Andrew Pearson delivered a home run, single and drove home two runs as Tyrone earned a win over Juniata Valley.
Kevin Lehner, Brandon Lucas and David Lang came through with two hits each.
Quinn Zinobile registered two hits to front the Green Hornets.
Central Cambria 9
Chestnut Ridge 8
EBENSBURG — Central Cambria scored a run in the bottom of the ninth to defeat Chestnut Ridge.
Devin Renzi had three of the Red Devils’ 10 hits to go with two RBIs. Teammate Nick Knopp added two RBIs.
Chestnut Ridge, which trailed 6-2 after three innings of play, got three hits from Rhett Frazier to go with three RBIs from Gryphon Callihan.
The Lions scored three times in the top of the seventh for an 8-7 lead, but the Red Devils tied it up with a run in the bottom of the frame to force extra innings.
Cambria Heights 2
FLINTON– Nick Blake and Garrett Misuira each had two hits for Glendale in a win over Cambria Heights.
Blake, who also got the win, struck out 11 while holding Heights to two hits in five innings. Josh Potutschnig had three RBIs for Glendale, which broke open a 4-2 game with four runs in the fifth inning.
Hunter Yeckley had two RBIs for Cambria Heights. Losing pitcher Tyler Trybus struck out four in four-plus innings of work.
PORTAGE — Max Herman, Albert Koenigsberg and Connor Price each had two RBIs to lead Portage to a five-inning win over Ferndale.
Jacob Irvin had three of the Mustangs’ nine hits. Herman added two in a game Portage led, 6-0, after just two innings.
Winning pitcher Tyler Alexander worked four innings and finished with eight strikeouts.
St. Joseph’s 2
BOALSBURG — Keegan Soltis had two hits and drove in three runs to lead Philipsburg-Osceola to a win at Saint Joseph’s.
The Mounties, who led 3-1 after three innings, got five innings of one earned-run ball from Bubba Slogarsky, who improved to 3-0 with six strikeouts and just two walks.
