Michina garners top honors at Summit CC

CRESSON — D.J. Michina had a net score of 73 recently, which was good enough to win the Summit Country Club’s Masters event in area golf action.

Each member’s net score was added to that of a pro partner from the third round of The Masters. Michina, paired with Tiger Woods’ 67, totaled 140 to win the $70 top prize.

Quintin Dziabo (74) and PJ Shell (72) had Woods and Brooks Koepka (69) respectively to tie for second place, each winning $45. Fran Nazit and Dave States tied for fourth and Terry Tencheon and Bob Maher tied for sixth.

Winning the $40 skins games, all on birdies, were Doug Fogel (No. 2), Denny Michina Sr. (No. 5), D.J. States (No. 6) and Dziabo (No. 10 & 18).

Sylvan Hills

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The team of Dayonne Beck, M.J. Terza and Evie Monahan recently won the Sylvan Hills Ladies Golf Scramble.

Bernie Mayancsik, Missy Fetzer, Lynn Durbin and Sandy Murphy finished second, while Bonnie Deem, Rosey McCoy, Nancy Moore and Carol Young finished third.

The winner of the longest drive low handicap was Young, and high handicap was Durbin. The longest put winner was Terza.

Philipsburg Elks

PHILIPSBURG — Eddie Myers won the Philipsburg Elks Lodge Country Club 2019 Masters Tournament net division.

Myers, paired with Tiger Woods, finished with a 135. Al Herr, teamed with Brooks Koepka, was second with a 136.

Adam Timchak, paired with Rickie Fowler, won the gross division with a 141 and was followed by Payton Guelich (143), with Justin Thomas.

Art Weitoish, with Koepka, won the gross nine holes with a 73, and Rick Kenney, with Fowler, won the net nine holes with a 63.
