Lions win twice at CM Invite

MILL HALL — Altoona went 2-0 at the Central Mountain Invitational on Tuesday, shutting out Mifflin County, 5-0, and defeating event host Central Mountain, 4-1, in high school boys tennis action Tuesday.

Singles players Jonah Brandt, Casey Rispoli and Nick Schimminger each won both of their matches, along with the team of Mike Schimminger and Kyle Murray in doubles action.

Bisons rolling

BEDFORD–Bedford improved to 7-1 following a 5-0 win over Bishop McCort.

The Bisons’ Caleb Beidle, Johnny Imgrund and Luke Dague won in singles action. The team of Zach Kachman and Cole Hampton won No. 1 doubles while Lance Dague and Joey Windows were No. 2 doubles winners.

Altoona defeated Central Dauphin East, 26-24, 25-20, 25-21, at the Fieldhouse behind 15 kills and six digs from Dalton Keller in high school boys volleyball action.

Matt Furrer added 17 assists and four digs, and Andrew Cassidy had five blocks.

Dragons lose

DuBOIS — Central fell to 0-2 with a 25-19, 25-17, 25-20 loss at DuBois.

The Scarlet Dragons got seven kills and four blocks from Devin Clapper to go with four service points each from Alex Barnes, Sam Moyer, Tyler Earnest and Zach Gahagan.

Jordan Stump added four blocks for Central.

Marauders lose

Bishop Guilfoyle fell to 1-3 to start to the season with a loss to State College in straight sets, 25-13, 25-11, 25-7.

Connor Ebersole had seven kills for the Marauders and Kai Kimberly had 10 assists. State College improved to 2-0.
