Hollidaysburg gets Alkhafaji into finals
The championship final is set in the District 6 Class 3A boys singles tennis tournament, with top-seeded Rami Alkhafaji of Hollidaysburg to square off against second-seeded Owen Lloyd of State College for the title today at noon on the Penn State Altoona courts.
Alkhafaji punched his ticket to the finals with a 6-2, 6-2 semifinal victory over fourth-seeded Drew Cagle of State College on Wednesday, while Lloyd defeated third-seeded Jonah Brandt of Altoona, 6-0, 6-2 in the other semifinal.
Alkhafaji defeated Central Mountain’s Gavyn Walker, 6-1, 6-0 in the quarterfinals, while Lloyd beat Hollidaysburg’s Anthony Martinelli, 6-0, 6-0 in the quarters.
The District 6 Class 2A championship match will pair top-seeded Ryne Talko of Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic against second-seeded Bruce Perow of Huntingdon. That match will also be held at noon at Penn State Altoona.

BEDFORD — Caleb Beidle won, 6-0, 6-0 over Tussey Mountain’s Travis Lemin, as Bedford rolled to 18-1 with a 5-0 sweep.
Luke Dague and Zach Kachman also won in singles action for the Bisons.

Eagles soar
TYRONE — Ryan Hunt had Central Cambria’s lone win, 6-1, 6-1, over Caleb Orr, but Tyrone swept doubles action and the other four singles matches for a 6-1 victory.
Noah Irvin defeated Dalton Baker, 6-4, 6-1 in No. 1 singles action for the Golden Eagles, who improved to 5-6. Irvin also teamed up with Caden Brooks for an 8-1 win in No. 1 doubles.

Guilfoyle swept

The Marauders got singles wins from Ryan Talko in both matches and Owen Yang in the second match of the day. The doubles team of Ben Consiglio and Lucas Steinbugl also earned a win in the first match.
