Bedford takes Mtn. Lion tourney

H.S. tennis

Bedford captured the team title in the four-team Mountain Lion Tennis Invitational held Friday and Saturday at the Gorilla House Gym and Ebensburg Tennis Center.

Bedford won three of the five flights with Johnny Imgrund taking No. 2 singles, Zach Kachman and Lance Dague winning No. 1 doubles, and Joey Windows and Cole Hampton claiming No. 2 doubles.

Bedford’s Caleb Beidle was runner-up at No. 1 singles, and Luke Dague was runner-up at No. 3 singles.

Altoona finished third with Nick Schmminger claiming the No. 3 singles flight. Colby Bickel and Alex Berardinelli finished runner-up at No. 2 doubles.

Hollidaysburg goes 2-0

ERIE — Hollidaysburg improved to 9-2 with a twinbill sweep under the lights at Erie McDowell, beating Fairview, 3-2, and the hosts, 4-1, in matches played late Friday night.

In the win over Fairview, the Tigers got a singles win from Rami Alkhafaji and doubles victories from Brian Johnson and Jake Irwin, and Jacob Gallagher and Nathan Ferris.

Against McDowell, singles wins were earned by Alkhafaji and Anthony Martinelli to go with doubles wins from Johnson and Irwin, along with Gallagher and Ferris.
