SFU’s Kovatch, PSU players honored
SFU’s Kovatch NEC Player of Year
LORETTO — Saint Francis senior guard Jess Kovatch has been named Northeast Conference Player of the Year, as announced Monday.
Kovatch receives one of the NEC’s top awards for the second straight year after also taking home Player of the Year honors last season. She is only the fourth player in NEC history to receive the award in back-to-back years.
Kovatch lands on the NEC First Team again this season and is joined in the all-conference awards by sophomore forward Haley Thomas, who was named all-NEC third team.
The all-time leading scorer and 3-point shooter in NEC men’s or women’s basketball history, Kovatch has had a stellar senior campaign, averaging a league-best 21.2 points and 3.7 3-pointers per game. She is the nation’s active career leading scorer with 2,795 career points and ranks second all-time in NCAA women’s basketball history with 461 3-pointers.
Thomas earns all-conference third team honors after averaging 9.6 points and 6.1 rebounds.
PSU’s Stevens, Reaves honored by Big Ten

Stevens is one of only two players to rank in the conference’s top 10 in scoring and rebounding in all league games with a 20.0 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game average.
Stevens moved into Penn State’s top five in all-time scoring in the final regular-season game of 2018-19 and now has 1,636 career points. He was named to the All-Big Ten second team by the league’s media members.
The Big Ten Conference coaches voted Penn State senior guard Josh Reaves as the league’s 2019 Defensive Player of the Year.
