Central has too many weapons on offense for ’Cats

MARTINSBURG — Central had several offensive contributors in a 15-5 Mountain League rout of Huntingdon Wednesday afternoon in high school baseball action.

Casey Walters went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and four RBIs, while Noah Muthler also knocked in four runs, with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate that included a home run and four RBIs for Central (2-0), which invoked the mercy rule after five innings.

Hunter Klotz went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, Dylan Focht went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, Paxton Kling went 2-for-4 with four runs scored, and Devon Boyles was 2-for-2 with four runs scored for the Scarlet Dragons.

Huntingdon (0-2) got a double and two RBIs from Tyson Cook.

Chestnut Ridge pushed across a run in the top of the seventh inning on a fielder’s choice by Gryphon Callihan to edge Bishop Guilfoyle in the season-opener for both schools.

Mason McVicker got the win in relief for the Lions. Gaige Reighard and Danny Carrieri each had two hits for Bishop Guilfoyle.

John Elias and Seth Link accounted for the only two Heights hits with singles. It was the season opener for both teams.

The Blue Pirates, who fell to 0-2, were limited to four hits.

HOMER CENTER — Nate Davis struck out 14 to help Homer-Center improve to 2-0 with a win over Portage, which was playing its first game of the season.

The Mustangs got an RBI single from Albert Koenigsberg and Jackson Kozlovac had a hit and scored two runs.

BELLWOOD–Travis Luensmann had two hits and drove in three runs to lead Bellwood-Antis over Williamsburg in a game from Tuesday.

Luensmann also got the start and worked three innings. He strruck out seven and walked three. Teammate Trentin Whaley added two hits and scored three runs.

Jared McCall drove in the lone run for Williamsburg.
