Lady Lions capture another title

ST MARYS — For the sixth year in a row, the Altoona Area High School gymnastics team captured a league championship.

On Saturday at St. Marys High School, the Lady Lions won the Central Pennsylvania Gymnastics League title, finishing with 138.43 points to St. Marys, which placed second at 126.75. Bellefone (115.75) was third, followed by DuBois (106.88) and Ridgway (103.05).

Leading the way for Altoona were Marissa Stouffer and Gracie Weaver. They tied for first in the vault (9.5) while Stouffer won the bars (9.52) and the floor (9.1), as well as the all-around (37.0). Weaver captured first in the beam (9.0) and finished second in the all-around (35.78). Stouffer was second on the beam (8.875).

The Lady Lions are back at it on Tuesday, Feb. 19, with a meet at home against Ridgway at 6 p.m.
