Meintel’s balanced work sparks Marauders

SIDMAN — Rachel Meintel recorded 13 digs, 10 kills and eight service points to front Bishop Guilfoyle in a sweep of Forest Hills with scores of 25-14, 25-18, 25-23 in girls high school volleyball Monday night.

BG improved to 2-0

Beth Yahner delivered 10 kills and 10 digs, Gabby Krug collected 47 assists, Lyzee Wilson came through with 15 kills and Emily Brown tallied 10 digs for the Lady Marauders.

Altoona spikes North Star

Altoona had contributions from several different players in a 16-25, 25-13, 25-20, 15-25, 15-13 win over visiting North Star at the Fieldhouse.

Bridgid Fox had 10 kills and four service points, Emily Albright had 35 assists and seven service points, and Julia Savino had 25 digs and five service points for Altoona (2-0).

Bracken reaches milestone

EBENSBURG — Leah Bracken recorded 39 assists, including the 1,000th of her career, as Central Cambria swept past Somerset, 25-15, 25-20, 28-26.

Bracken, whose mark now stands at 1,022, also led the Lady Red Devils with 12 service points.

Jenna Bauer tallied 16 digs and seven kills, Hannah Lane recorded 17 assists, while Ashley Grimes led the way for CC with nine kills.
