Ferguson paces Tyrone golfers

TYRONE — Tyrone’s Andrew Ferguson shot a 1-under par 71 to earn medalist honors and lift Tyrone to a victory in a Mountain League meet at Sinking Valley Country Club Thursday in high school golf.

Ferguson’s teammate Jake Taylor carded a 78. Tyrone finished with a team total of 326.

Runner-up Huntingdon got a 76 from Luke Thompson to finish with a team score of 337, and third-place finisher Central was led by Mason Baker’s 82.

Brandon Singer shot an 81 for Philipsburg-Osceola, which finished fourth.

JOHNSTOWN — The Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic (246) golf team swept Westmont Hilltop (247), Forest Hills (249) and Chestnut Ridge (266) in a quadrangular match at the Sunnehanna Country Club.

AJ Marasco medaled with a 47, followed by Sam and John Fiore both carding a 48.

READING — Jenee Delerme, Payton Ruggery, Paige Jodon, Samantha Betar and Abigail Goodman each won singles matches to propel Hollidaysburg to a 6-0 win over Exeter Township in high school girls tennis.

Jenna Sheetz and Alycia Auerbeck combined on a doubles win.

Bedford edges BG

Emily Ruhlman, Lindsay Shuke and Josie Shuke swept the singles competition to lift Bedford to a 3-2 triumph over Bishop Guilfoyle at the Summit Tennis and Athletic Club in high school girls tennis.

Madison Hooper and Marisa Hooper won at No. 1 doubles for BG, as did Elenda Durbin and Reese Jones at No. 2 doubles.
