WATERFORD — The Altoona Lady Spikers finished fifth out of 16 teams in the Fort LeBoeuf Invitational in high school girls volleyball on Saturday.

The team finished with a 6-4 overall record, losing in the quarterfinals to Warren.

Bridgid Fox had 31 kills and 45 digs, Ireland McClellan delivered 17 kills and eight blocks, Emily Albright had 73 assists and 22 digs, Maggie Fox collected 26 service points, and Julia Savino added 69 digs.

Morning Pool: General McLane def. Altoona 25-12. Cochranton def. Altoona 25-4. Altoona def. Northwestern 25-16. Altoona finished third.

Afternoon Pool: Altoona def. Seneca 25-16, 25-23. Altoona split with Harbor Creek 25-16, 17-25. Altoona def. Union City 25-21, 25-15. Altoona finished first.

Play-in round: Altoona def. Meadville 26-24.

Quarterfinals: Warren def. Altoona 25-19.

Guilfoyle makes semis

Northern Cambria — Bald Eagle Area topped Northern Cambria in the championship game of the Northern Cambria girls volleyball kickoff tournament.

Northern Cambria topped Hollidaysburg in the semifinals, and BEA topped Bishop Guilfoyle 25-13 in the other semifinal.

BG statistical leaders were Gabby Krug with 82 assists and 18 points, Lyzee Wilson with 34 kills and 13 points, Emily Brown with 25 digs and 15 points, and Beth Yahner with 15 kills and 25 digs. Other leaders include Rachel Meintel (10 kills and 13 points), Alicia Nicolini (11 points), Pam Lund (10 kills) and Rachel Resick (10 points).

BG finished pool play with a 4-4 record with sweeps over Homer-Ce trr and Windber. BG got swept by Northern Cambria and Our Lady of Sacred Heart.

In the gold playoffs, BG upended Clarion in the first round 25-20 and then Berlin in quarterfinals 25-17.

Northern javyees win

LOYSBURG — Lucas Heck rushed for two touchdowns to lead the Northern Bedford junior varsity football team to a 36-14 win over Southern Huntingdon.

The Black Panthers also got touchdowns from Hayden Foor, Griffin Keller and Evan Clouse.


Tanner Wyland had an interception for the Bellwood-Antis High School football team Friday night in a win over Glendale.
