Saltzburg, Macionsky, Ferguson, Harpster win TriLeo event

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The team of Mark Saltzburg, Mike Macionsky, Jimmy Ferguson and Andy Harpster combined to shoot a 55 to win the 2018 TriLeo Foundation Hackers for Hearts Golf Tournament at the Scotch Valley Country Club.

There was a three-way tie for second place at 57 between the teams of Todd Homan, Keith Danner, Brent Miller and Wally Clapper, Rob Hippo, Artie Fink, Greg Ferguson and Gregory Ferguson and Anthony DeGol, Dennis DeGol, Spencer Hinish and Ron Hinish.

The event raised around $15K.

Summit

CRESSON — There was a three-way tie for first place recently in the finale of the Member Appreciation Day Two-Man Scramble at the Summit Country Club.

Steve Destefano and Ed Shrift, D.J. Michina and John Rozansky, and Dan Myers and Roger Crist, all finished with 63s.

There was a two-way tie for fourth at 64 between Ron Shutty and Shawn Hildebrand, along with Chad Hooper and Vaughn Lewis.

The winner of the women’s 3-player scramble event was the team of Therese Perino, Susan Wilson and Kelli Plunkett (75).

Philipsburg Elks

PHILIPSBURG — The teams of Bo and Patty Snakey, along with Jim and Coleen Dixon combined to shoot a 77 which allowed both teams to share the title in the championship flight at the Husband & Wife Championship at the Philipsburg Elks Country Club.

Todd and Becky Reifer shot an 80 for third, while three teams tied for fourth at 81: Randy and Georgiann Way, Mike and Gabi Healey and Chip and Tracy Branthoover.

Scott and Amanda Nelson won the first flight (78) while Tim Ronan and Melissa Elliott won the second flight (73).

Huntingdon

HUNTINGDON — The team of Gerry Huggler and Bob Lamey went 2-0 to win week No. 2 of the second cycle of the Big Orange Golf League.

Larry Newton and Phil Thompson, along with Bill Frazier and Ed Gargula, each went 1-1. The team of Rick Bayer and Jim Lakso were 0-2.

Thompson was the low gross winner (37) while Huggler was the low net winner (31). The shot of the day was Huggler, whose second shot on No. 6 came within six feet of an eagle.

Sinking Valley

TYRONE — Steven Algeria, Jim Franchio, Jim Dambeck and Jim Gustitis topped the runner-up team of Tom Otto, Bob Kelly, Jess Davis and Bob Forshey to win the seniors event at Sinking Valley Country Club on Wednesday.

Hole-in-one

Kevin Plazek of Carrolltown recently made a hole-in-one while playing at the Summit Country Club.

Plazek nailed it on the par-3 No. 4 hole, 116 yards long using a gap wedge. It was witnessed by Mark Colyer and Walt Shaw.
