Weibley delivers for Locker Room

Brett Weibley had a big day for Locker Room in the Altoona Greater City Baseball League Sunday.

In the first game of a twinbill at Vets Field, Weibley hit a grand slam while finishing with three hits and seven RBIs in an 18-3 win over Medicine Shoppe in a five-inning game. In the nightcap, Weibley hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh to give Locker Room a 5-4 win over Medicine Shoppe.

Matt Hershey added two hits and three RBIs for Locker Room (11-2) in the 18-3 win. In the 5-4 win, Brendan Hileman had two hits and two RBIs for the winners. Medicine Shoppe got three hits and an RBI from Chris Sinisi to go with two RBIs from Ian Ralston.

Andy Lytle got the win in both games, finishing with 10 strikeouts and only one walk.

n Winning pitcher Mark Saxman had two hits and drove in four runs to lead Blair County Oil past BMG Construction, 10-4, in Lilly.

Teammate Matt Massaro added three RBIs as the winners improved to 9-3.

BMG (4-3) got three hits from Ray Watt and two RBIs from Rich Ball.

n Frankie Montecalvo had four hits and three RBIs to lead Shields Trophy to a 17-9 win over Sheetz at Vets Field.

Shields (4-8) also got three hits and three RBIs from winning pitcher John Fanelli to go with two RBIs each from Brian Leonard and Zach Stitt. Teammate Mark Fanelli added three hits.

Sheetz (3-10) received three RBIs from Robbie Yahner.

Mark Stewart had two hits and three RBIs to go with two hits and two RBIs from teammate Blake Johnston as Martin Oil improved to 10-2.

n Park Home scored 14 runs in the first inning en route to an 18-0 three-inning win over Patton Legion at Geesey Park.

Babe Ruth 14

MILROY — Altoona fell in the championship game of the Junior Babe Ruth District 7 tournament for 14-year-olds with a 10-9 loss to Williamsport West End.

Both teams advance to the state tournament in Philadelphia July 13-18.

In the final, Gabe Herman had two hits and three RBIs, and Nathan Sell drove in two runs.

Late Saturday, Altoona stayed alive in the tourney with a 12-9 win over Mifflin County.

Aidan Steinbugl delivered three hits for Altoona, and Matt Moyer, Herman, Lucas Muffie, Austin Estep and Trevor Palladini each had two. Herman and Sell each drove in two runs.

Cumming Motors improved its record to 8-6 with a 15-9 win over McMullen Furniture at Seitz Field in Altoona Teener League action for 13-year-olds.

Gaven Ridgway, Nick Hogan and Austin Parker each had two hits and two RBIs for Cumming, and winning pitcher Ethan Hileman had two hits.

Izaha Murray collected two hits for McMullen, which fell to 11-5.

n Alexander Yost and Aaron Chaplin combined on a one-hitter to help CoBRH’s down Gingrich Insurance, 11-0, in five innings at Seitz Field.

Yost threw the first four innings and struck out nine, and Chaplin threw a hitless fifth inning. Trent Hardie had two hits for CoBRH’s.
