Sell’s big game lifts PennCrest

Winning pitcher Nathan Sell had four hits and four RBIs as PennCrest Bank topped Police, 18-3, in 14-15 year-old Altoona Teener League play at Seitz Field.

Landon Meadows added a double among his three hits and two RBIs for PennCrest.

Yost pitches well

Alexander Yost pitched no-hit ball for six innings and teamed with Brayden Kane on a one-hitter as Co“BRH”s defeated Cumming Motors, 5-3 in an Altoona Teener League 13-year-old game at Seitz Field. Austin Beauchamp had two hits in the winning cause for Co”BRH”s.

VFW series tied

TYRONE — Nate Cornelius tripled and drove in four runs as Sheetz Altoona evened its Area 4 16U VFW series at one apiece with Passarello Law, 11-10, with two runs in the top of the seventh inning at Ferner Field.

Brendan Baney had three hits, and Cam Mauk homered and drove in three for Sheetz.

Marcus Day had four hits, including a home run, for Passarello.

Cove wins title

BELLWOOD — Spring Cove clinched the championship in the Area 4 VFW ages 13-and-14 round-robin tournament and earned a berth in the state tournament by defeating Bellwood, 15-2.

Spring Cove, which got three hits and three RBIs from Lambert Palmer and three hits and two RBIs from Jeff Hoenstine, finished the tournament with a 3-0 record and will advance to state competition in Lebanon, Pa. beginning July 21.
