Roberts helps Locker Room edge Lilly Conrad

George Roberts knocked in four runs, including three with a game-winning home run in the bottom of the sixth inning, to lead Locker Room to a 6-5 victory over Lilly Conrad Chiropractic/American Legion at Mansion Park in the Altoona Greater City Baseball League on Friday.

Locker Room wiped out a 5-3 deficit to improve its season record to 15-2. Lilly (16-2) got four hits and four RBIs from Lucas McCoy.

Mason Akers tossed a two-hit shutout, striking out five batters, Troy Walker drove home two runs, and Alex Schmoke had two hits, including a double, as Martin Oil blanked Dick’s Pharmacy, 10-0 in a six-inning mercy-rule decision in the first game of a first-round playoff series at Vets Field in the George B. Kelley Federation on Friday.

Martin leads the best-of-three series, 1-0, with Game 2 between the teams set for 5:30 p.m. tonight at Vets.

n Barton’s Plumbing & Heating won by forfeit over Shirley’s Cookies in Game 1 of their best-of-three playoff series.

n Alex Hite had three hits and drove home three runs, and Cody Schreyer had three RBIs and two hits, to lead Patton Legion to an 18-6 victory over Sheetz in the season finale for both teams Thursday night at Vets Field.

John Elias had two hits and drove in a pair of runs for Patton Legion, which finished the season with a 6-12 record. Sheetz finished at 6-13.

Ethan Sipes had two hits and two RBIs, Parker Stampley knocked in two runs, and Dominic McMasters slugged a two-run triple, to lead Cumming Motors to a 13-3, six-inning mercy-rule victory over M&T Bank in an Altoona Teener League 13-year-old game at Seitz Field.

Cumming Motors improved to 13-7, while M&T Bank dropped to 4-16.

n Niko Burns, Anthony Campagna and Aaron Chaplin each had two hits for CoBRH’S in a 22-2 win in three innings over J&P Auto Mart at Seitz Field.

Winning pitcher Trent Eichenlaub struck out three.
