Macionsky, Perry lead SVCC event
A total of 108 teams completed their second rounds yesterday at the 46th annual Sinking Valley Classic.
At the end of Saturday’s play, the team of Chris Perry and Mike Macionsky held an impressive six-shot lead over Scotch Valley’s Jay Pheasant and Windber’s Dan Thompson. The team of Artie Fink Jr. and Anthony DeGol will go into the final round seven shots back.
Perry and Macionsky opened the tournament with a 9-under par, 63, on Friday and followed up with an impressive 10-under, 62, yesterday. A victory tomorrow will give the impressive young duo their seventh local best-ball title in the past six years.
“We have to go out and play well tomorrow if we’re going to win. There are a lot of good teams out there,” Perry said.
In the first flight, the Iron Masters team of Brett Miller and Wally Clapper will take a five-shot lead into the final day after rounds of 68 and 63. Their impressive 9-under par score on Saturday included eagles on the first and third holes.
The tournament’s final round will be played today, with the championship leaders teeing off at 3 p.m.
