Claysburg outslugs Lilly for win No. 20

LILLY — Corey Chamberlain got the win and drove in two runs for Claysburg in a 14-11 win over Lilly Monday in a Cambria County American Legion baseball game.

Lary Corle drove in two runs for Claysburg (20-4) — which led 9-3 after two innings — and Braedon O’Donnell and Luke Mardula each had two RBIs for Lilly (11-9).

Casey Walters was Claysburg’s only batter with multiple hits with three, while Collin Reese had two for Lilly.

Greater City League

Ryan Slagenweit scored on an error in the top of the eighth inning to break a 5-5 tie and help lift Locker Room over Sheetz, 6-5, at Mansion Park in Greater City League action.

Slagenweit had two hits and two RBIs, Ty Black collected three hits, and Brett Weibley and Johnny Martinez each had two hits.

Buddy Durbin had three hits for Sheetz, and Robbie Yahner and Todd Johnson each had two.

n Cody Becker struck out six and only allowed two hits, and Derek Cursio drove in four runs for Cumming Motors in a 15-0, four-inning win over Medicine Shoppe at Juniata.

Catcher Cumming had three RBIs for the winners, who led 8-0 after two innings. Teammates Brandon Durbin and Derek Shaw each brought in two runs. Shaw and Cumming each tripled.

Kelley Federation

Martin Oil played to mercy-rule again, taking down Corporal Miller, 15-0, in five innings at Geesey Park in George B. Kelley Federation League play.

Trentin Whaley, Mason Akers, Blake Johnston and Owen Shaulis each produced two RBIs for Martin Oil, which improved to 15-3.

Alex Schmoke got the win. He allowed two hits and struck out four while walking just one.

n Sheetz pounced on Tyrone Legion for an early lead with seven different batters driving in a run in a 15-11 win at Tyrone’s Ferner Field.

Derek Seager finished with four RBIs on two hits, while teammate Josh Scalice had two hits and two RBIs, and Nathan Burket also brought in two runs.

Sam Wyland got the win for Sheetz, which improved to 6-9.

Tyrone, which fell to 16-3, got three hits and two RBIs from Colson Lewis to go with three RBIs from Corey Lehman.

n Park Home won a twinbill at Vets Field, 12-1 and 17-7, both in five innings over Shirley’s Cookies.

In the opener, Park put the game away, breaking a 1-1 tie with seven runs in the third inning. Jacob Plunket led Park with two hits and four RBIs. Trevor Miller helped out with three RBIs and two hits to go with two RBIs each from Mike Folcarelli and Michael Turiano. Winning pitcher Zach Kuhns struck out five for Park (12-3).

In the nightcap, Park won behind Cole Gibson, John Gority and Ian Yon, who all drove in three runs on two hits each. Turiano struck out eight in getting the win.

R.J. Helsel had two RBIs for Shirley’s.
